Sims 3 Bug from 1.7 patch – Cannot Collect Money from Businesses

Recently I had a user pose a question about collection from businesses here:

I looked into the issue and it seems that most recent patch 1.7 is the cause of this problem, and as of writing this there is no fix created yet. The only way to get rid of these “patch” problems is by re-installing your Sims 3 and simply not updating with that bad patch. Sometimes it’s a graphic card issue though, so don’t forget to update that before you do anything. EA will release yet another quick patch to fix it hopefully, but until then I advise avoiding the patch if you haven’t updated yet. This is the reason I never grab the latest patches. I always wait and see what problems there are (there always are) and then decide if it patching is worth it. Sometimes the fixes are nice, and sometimes they are worse compared to the version I am using. Good luck my Sim-friends!

Here are some of the other problems that you may find along with this issue:

  • The food spoiling bug where food spoils even when in the fridge (had to buy a whole different refrigerator but it seems to be working ok now)
  • The error code 16 when saving game (choose save as and renamed the game, so far working out ok)
  • When in build mode I can’t see the objects until they are actually placed. So like if I’m trying to put a window on a wall I click the window, move my arrow over to the wall and instead of seeing the window on the wall I just see a blank hole where the window is going to go, once I click it the window shows up.
  • Since updating with the patches (im now on 1.7) i cannot take anything out of the inventories and i have the same problem with build mode, i cannot see where i am placing an object!

Future Comments

For now I am having to say a quick sorry to all of those who found my blog seeking my guides. I no longer have the time to play my game due to my job and family situation. I have a young one on the way! So there is good news and bad. I will do my best to answer your questions, and when I get things settled I may continue with the guides. I have tons of raw data, but formatting it and making it cohesive takes time. I am a perfectionsist and so I would rather post nothing than half written facts. Please accept my dear apologies. I will still be checking your questions daily, so don’t hesitate to ask.

Also to those of you seeking answers there are tons and tons of comments here that answer most of your questions. Thanks for stopping by and have fun simming.

News – My birthday! and 1.3 patch released

Yes today is my birthday my fine sim friends. It’s been crazy and the blog is getting more use than I ever dreamed. Thanks for all your comments and helpful additions. I’ve been pretty busy lately IRL, but I’m trying to make time to add to the guide when I get a few spare hours. I appreciate all the kind words from everyone, it really keeps me motivated and makes me feel rewarded for the efforts I’ve put into the blog.

A few days ago a new patch was released. You’re game should alert you to update, but since I haven’t played for a while I didn’t get the memo. Anyway there are a TON of new changes and fixes. I will definitely be updating because a lot of things got worked out. Remember any mods you have installed will also need to be updated, so if you are having a problem right away, you should check those first before blaming the patch update.

Here is the full list, it’s really long. Have fun everybody!

Sims 3 Patch Released

EA has released a new patch. If you are not experiencing any of the problems, then I advise not updating because as with all patches, they can sometimes cause additional problems. The best changes I see worth updating for here are VSync/Refresh issues, because that helps your game run more smoothly. The speed changes would be nice as well although they note that “SOME” machines will improve, so the benefit may or may not occur. Since I’m not having any issues currently, I’m just sticking with the base game for now.

here is the link to the patch.

Latest Update for: 1.2.7
POSTED ON 06/25/09 08:00 PM

Complete list of changes:

* Addresses some issues with Speed 2 and 3 moving too slowly. Some machines will have better results when using Speed 2 and 3 now.
* Fix to story progression on/off selection toggle.
* Fix for a possible crash with audio code.
* Fix for babysitter routing off lots with babies.
* Addresses some issues with Vsync and refresh rate problems.
* Addresses some issues with DVD authentication errors and drive compatibility on startup.
* This update deals with some issues on Mac systems that can crash the game while connecting to AFP servers.
* Fix for a freeze that can occur when Sims attempt to clean out bad food from the fridge.
